I hope you all had a very holly jolly one!

I ate and drank to an excessive degree. We got back from my parents fairly late last night, and I got to dash off to work at 7 this morning. Wash, rinse, repeat tomorrow.

My wonderful boyfriend gave me the following:

Comes hiiiiighly recommended, gorgeous photos, and well worthy of the considerable space it takes up in our tiny apartment.

And, Tony Duquette: More is More, the enormous book containing some of Mr. Duquette’s enormous ouevre. I’m crazy about his work. Without a bit of dillution, his style would not have a place in my home, but that said, it’s incredible. It’s unapologetically over-the-top, but with a great sense of humor and exuberance. Fantastic book.

TheOutnet.com is having a ridiculous (try 85% off on things like the sequined minidress Kate Hudson and the rest of the world are wearing) flash Balmain sale. Lots of the items are sold out, but good lord. A few highlights (the calfskin vest nearly killed me):

I drop too much on beauty sometimes, it’s true. (See Rouge d’Armani in 400, a.k.a. best investment ever)

But I am not quite at decadent $50 pomades. Yet.

That said, if you are, this is the one.

Oribe 24k Gold Pomade. I noticed it a while ago and tried it at Bloomie’s last week.

It’s pretty stunning (although I did end up with a metallic smudge on my forehead I noticed later at the hairdresser…)

Last minute gift idea? It’s here.

(And much like the elusive Rouge #400, seems to be sold out most places. Damn my good taste!)

It should be noted that this image is how I spend my time in repose…

I adore Nick Knight. Huge images from a December 2008 Vogue UK editorial after the jump. (more…)

This D&G Time ad has been out for a bit, but I’ve not had an outlet to post it. The bulk of it is nothing stunning, but the end is SUPERB. I love it. Even the D&G logo has never looked so good as in front of that woman’s face. If you follow it back directly to its page on Youtube, one woman claiming to be a teacher comments: “…record it as soon as you get a chance ’cause you’ll never see it again after the next week or two. i myself, as well as many higher ups have already taken steps against this.” Hah. Directed by Cyrill Guyot.

Lazy morning at Chez Nuthin. A lot of Yorkshire Gold tea and biscuits.

I watched The Hunger again the other day, and it is incredible. The art direction is such that I can’t really vouch for the plot, or even the quality of the film as a whole. The point is a hot, New Wave vampire Deneuve. That and this dress from Dior Spring 2006. Could teach these Twilight brats a thing or two…

This is a cigarette case designed by Wilhelm Lucas von Cranach in 1915. Sterling silver, the eyes are tiger’s eye stones, and I believe the clasp is sapphire. His designs are some of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

The brooch at right is an octopus hugging a butterfly. Christ.
